01.07.10 Harpster (Thanks)

Thanks for allowing me to participate in your blog. I really like the challenge to post something new every day. I have one or two good sketches from today's life drawing session that I will post soon, but for now here is something I worked on last week. I just wanted to post and say "hello, and looking forward to contributing to this wonderful blog."

  1. Welcome!

Lovely to see that someone is taking up the slack.
My deadlines are killing me, but I hope to rejoin the effort here as soon as I replace my stolen sketchbook...

  2. I'll second Lee's "Welcome"!

This sketch is a fun way to start, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do each day.

and Lee, so bummed that they took your sketchbook too! Looking forward to seeing your sketchs again when you get out from under your deadline.

  3. What kind of horrible person would steal a sketchbook? I actually worry about that when I leave a sketchbook in a car, then I tell myself I'm being crazy.

  4. Just don't leave a sketchbook (and your tools and your new James Gurney book) in a fancy Tumi bag that looks like it must be filled with things valuable enough to smash a window for. A single sketchbook should be safe enough...

  5. Oh you lost the Gurney book. Bummer, I just bought that, and it's the best art book I have ever purchased. Sorry about your luck.

  6. Are you guys talking about Gurney's "Imagnative Realism"? -- Gotta' get me a copy of that!

  7. Yes, the book is amazing. Really good ideas on painting techniques.

  8. It's a distillation of his process, shows off a wide range of his pictures and (for the brief time I had it) seemed pound for pound the best of all modern painting books.
