This blog is a difficult thing. Not only is it a sort (or sorts) of work I don't do otherwise, the very standards I use in my other work have to go out the window... Having finished my last book it took a couple days for me to break in a new book (badly, with yesterday's sketch that I didn't even want to scan).
I just need to remember not to worry, and that the more contour drawings I do, the better. No matter how much I hate them. I just remembered today that I won a prize in Colorado when I was in 7th grade for a contour drawing that I hated. Funny how the hate doesn't change. lol

Not that I'm a masochist or anything, but I think you're on to something. I feel pretty much the same way about contour line drawings -- but there's something about the "seeing" required to do this kind of drawing that can only be helpful. And anyway, the upper right portrait rocks!
ReplyDeleteYup.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words. It's funny how "bad" that picture is compared to th original, but how much "better" it actually is that the source photo. It's all relative, and that tough to wrap my reality-based head around. :)
