11.05.09 DHohn

Been a bit since I posted. I'm gonna' blame it on the fact that I haven't been doing much drawing but instead lots of sheetrocking and running electrical, getting showers ready for tile etc. The studio renovation has been moving along nicely! It should be a great space when we're done.

In the evenings I come home and continue working on this series.
I finished a final painting only to discover that I wasn't satisfied, so I started reworking the color study stage. These are some of the options I came up with.

  1. The 2nd and 3rd (save for his shadow color and the violet shadow in front of his forward foot) most appeal to me, but I think it rather depends upon your overall schema. Is time of day crucial? Linked among your young victims? etc.

    Good on you Mr. Sheetrock!

  2. After working these up and coming back I tend to be attracted to the 2nd as well. No time of day isn't critical -- rather I want to create a tone that elicits a feeling in the viewer. "Uneasy" would be a keyword that I'm going for. I will be using one color scheme for this series, but I won't be linking the various poems together in color scheme. They will however all end in the same cemetery.
