hey, david was giving me a hard time for not posting these images from my Drawing for animation class I teach on Wednesdays. Each is 3-5 minute pose. We had a costumed model who was great. These are watercolor.

The other is a media study for a portrait project I'm working on.

Back form the big Guest of Honor fun in San Jose.
Great to see drawings posted in my absence. :)

This image is almost drawn exactly as I saw it. The only two things I added was the cigarette in the lady's hand and the dog was a black lab. I just thought it would be funny to ad a foofy little puff dog all gothed out.

I rather surly-looking Mark Twain. Speaking of Mark Twain, exciting news: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/life/main/7021896.html

Sorry for the lack of posts. I could list all my excuses but there are way too many.
Here's some pics I drew of guys on my wife's softball team. I hate softball so I don't play.

The challenge of drawing the iconic (but frankly odd-looking) Brigitte Helm with the new brushes in Photoshop CS5 was too much to resist.

PS: Do any of you guys know where the Lighting Effects Filter went? Feature loss just seems peculiar and unprecedented to me...

Whew! It's been a while. Got slammed with deadlines on 3 projects all at once.
Lots'o drawing going on -- just not for any personal projects.
I missed my sketchbook.

Tried out a little inkjet transfer technique.
Kinda fun, very easy, pretty messy.

This is a tight thumbnail for a several-page piece to open up a literary/art journal. The blue lines separate the pages. I had to think about the flow of the entire piece, the composition of each spread, as well as where those damn gutters are!

You might have to open your browser up as big as possible to see this!

While my kid was taking in a bottle and a nap I pulled out my sketchbook and drew some of the tourists at Sea World.

Sorry for the lack of posts but I was on vacation all last week. I sketched everyday, but not for a very long period of time. Traveling with an 11 month old doesn't allow for much free time. Here are some Gorilla sketches from Disney's Animal Kingdom. We were only there for about 2 hours, way too crowded and way too hot.
